Haven exists for one reason: to be a safe home for music made by people, and for the listeners who want to hear it. Every recording on Haven is human-made music. We do not host AI-generated music, and we do not allow anyone to train AI on the work artists trust us with.
AI-generated music versus AI-assisted tools
There is an important difference between a song generated by an AI model and a song made by people who use modern studio tools. Engineers have long relied on software for editing, mixing, and mastering, and some of those tools now use machine learning. That is craft, and it is welcome here.
AI-generated music is something else. It is output from models that were often trained on copyrighted songs and lyrics without the creators' permission, and it can be produced in endless volume. Haven does not accept it. The songwriting, the performance, and the creative choices on every Haven release come from human beings.
No AI training on artists' work
At Haven, an artist's music is not training data. It is the work. Our Artist Bill of Rights and Artist Agreement put that promise in writing: masters, stems, artwork, and metadata on Haven will never be used to train any generative model, including our own. We do not have one.
How we screen uploads
Every submission runs through an AI music detection scan, and every release is then held for review by a person before it goes live. Artists confirm the music is human-made, supply full rights metadata, and stand behind it under the Artist Agreement. Screening is a safeguard, not a substitute for the trust between Haven and the artists who choose it.
Fair pay and music as it was made
Seventy percent of net subscription revenue goes to rights holders, on equal terms. Masters play as delivered: by default Haven adds no EQ and no loudness normalization, so you hear the record the way the artist and engineer intended. Each release also comes with its full album package, including cover art, liner notes, credits, lyrics, and booklets you can read and download while you listen.
Why it matters
Listeners want something real to connect with, and artists want to know their work is respected. Haven founder David Chatfield explained the thinking behind the service in an interview with Music Connection: HavenMusic.us Offers a Solution to A.I. That Critics Have Been Seeking.
